Am I too old to start writing books? Kissinger just published at 97. So, I may have 25 more years.

I have said, time and again, that the expansion of life expectancy changes how we think about and execute our lives. I wrote an article about 3 years ago in which I showed how a graph published showing that 50 year old, professional American men had a life expectancy of 88 was inaccurate. I then calculated what the actual life expectancy was for someone like me at 69 years old. It was, for me, 98.3.
Recently, I was told by a guy in his 40s that I was nearing the end of my life. He based that upon the published male life expectancy of 76.3. There is a huge difference between 4.3 more years and 26.3 more years. There are several statistical errors in the life expectancy assumptions and they are VERY material.
I took my Social Security benefits at 62 which gave me about 36 more years. That is as far from my retirement age as 26 years old is in the other direction. It's a full lifetime. Throwing a shawl over my knees and watching TV for all those years is clearly wrong. My children are grown, so family life has become part-time at most.
Clearly, we need to find a new raison d'etre for all those years. In other words, not only am I not too old to start writing books, something like that is absolutely necessary for everyone. I actually know a whole lot of people who retired in their 60s and are looking forward to 30 years of thumb twiddling. Don't be one of them.

Hi all, I live in Canada. And the article " The Inappropriately Excluded " is really something that deeply resonates with me, and has helped make sense of my life. That I've been going back to it for years as a reference. But today found out there is this meetup group. Excellent stuff!
So I'm wondering what are people's interests here?
I like transition planning, and how we'll get through the end of oil,
archival of important documents, talking to international advisors and politicians about it. Also run several businesses. And do a lot of religious stuff,
cause that's best way of connecting with the uh IQ challenged majority in terms they can understand. So for that I run anabaptist.ca and got like outreach for all sorts of faiths, like humanism, islam, communists, chinese, hindus, christians etc: https://anabaptist.ca/dyet/

Move to Canada? Why?

After Dobbs v Jackson, people are saying they want to move to Canada? Why? There is no part of Canada that allows abortion after 23 weeks. And, of course, nowhere in Europe are abortions legal after 24 weeks. So, if one really feels that access abortion is so important, the best thing to do is move to California. It has the most Progressive abortion laws pretty much anywhere, save China, North Korea, and Vietnam. Honestly, if this is your thing, then you should move to California. Whatever state you are in, they will celebrate your departure.
