'Senolytic' is quickly becoming a central theme of Polymathican cultural literacy

As the population continues to age and life extending technologies continue to develop, the terms senolytic and senescent cells will become commonplace among the erudite. An important statistic is the life expectancy of the middle and upper middle class 50 year old. In my youth the expectation was that a 50 year old would work until 65 and die about 10 years later. Today, an upper middle class American 50 year old male will retire at 67 and die about 21 years later. Essentially, advances in the treatment of cancer and heart disease has extended the life expectancy of this reference person by about 2.4 years per decade.

These advances are likely approaching a point of diminishing returns. That, however, probably doesn't mean that the 2.4 year per decade life expectancy increase will stop. It is probably the case that, if anything, it will increase moderately. That will likely be due to advancements in senolytics. In other words, within a decade or two, so applicable to people retiring today, it will be the norm to check into a rejuvenation clinic and get treatments that will extend that life expectancy to 100 years or more.

At the core of those treatments will be a 'senolytic cleansing'. In essence, as a person ages an increasing percentage of cells are non-functional. A small percent of such cells are present even when young and they provide useful bodily function. However, as one ages, there get to be too many of them and they interfere with bodily function, increase the risk of age related pathologies and contribute to progressive frailty. There are, however, a growing number of therapeutics, called senolytics, that clear out senescent cells. their use had dramatic results in mouse models and they are now being tested in humans.

They will not be the sole treatment in the rejuvenation clinic, but they are a major component. This is why I am posting this article which is a basic primer for the erudite person (Polymathican)

Hi all, I live in Canada. And the article " The Inappropriately Excluded " is really something that deeply resonates with me, and has helped make sense of my life. That I've been going back to it for years as a reference. But today found out there is this meetup group. Excellent stuff!
So I'm wondering what are people's interests here?
I like transition planning, and how we'll get through the end of oil,
archival of important documents, talking to international advisors and politicians about it. Also run several businesses. And do a lot of religious stuff,
cause that's best way of connecting with the uh IQ challenged majority in terms they can understand. So for that I run anabaptist.ca and got like outreach for all sorts of faiths, like humanism, islam, communists, chinese, hindus, christians etc: https://anabaptist.ca/dyet/

Move to Canada? Why?

After Dobbs v Jackson, people are saying they want to move to Canada? Why? There is no part of Canada that allows abortion after 23 weeks. And, of course, nowhere in Europe are abortions legal after 24 weeks. So, if one really feels that access abortion is so important, the best thing to do is move to California. It has the most Progressive abortion laws pretty much anywhere, save China, North Korea, and Vietnam. Honestly, if this is your thing, then you should move to California. Whatever state you are in, they will celebrate your departure.
